so true, see if you agree

Written by Regina Brett, 90 years old, of the Plain Dealer, Cleveland , Ohio .

"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most requested column I've ever written.

My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.

8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.

9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.

12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.

13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.

15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.

16.. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.

18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.

19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.

20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.

21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.

22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.

23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.

24. The most important sex organ is the brain.

25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.

26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?'

27. Always choose life.

28. Forgive everyone everything.

29. What other people think of you is none of your business.

30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.

31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

33. Believe in miracles.

34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.

35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.

37. Your children get only one childhood.

38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.

41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

42. The best is yet to come...

43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

44. Yield.

45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift."

I love all of these sayings and most of them I have found to be true in only 26 years!!

My dare to you, re-post on your blog, print and share with others, copy and paste then fwd in an email, or just share a couple with loved ones.

Thanks to my Mom for emailing this to me. I have printed it to share with others and posted it on my blog to share also! :)

Blog Update

Well it has been many months since I have posted an update on my blog and since I am up early today, with nothing to really do, I thought I would see how much information I could come with with to share with everyone!

~ I am working again this semester at OCC, teaching Constitution, 2 Reading and English classes, a Math class and an off campus Math class. Love them all!!

~ I have some wonderful students! They teach me something new everyday!

~ My best friend Paulina bought a house in Charleston, I now know how to paint, sand floors, sponge paint and have a great time with friends while doing it all!

~ Planning a 30th birthday party for my sister in October! hehehe

~ My niece has survived almost of month of High School, and Band!

~ My nephew is surviving 6th grade and JFL!

~ I love my business of selling Signature Homestyes. It allows me to meet some great people and have wonderful decorations and baskets for my home at the same time!

~ My sister Amber and her husband Jason just celebrated their 4 year anniversary... it seems like her wedding day was just here, now they have been happily married for 4 years, I wish them many many more years of happiness.

~ I know you can find out who your true friends are when you need to! I know many people dont like country music, but there is a great song about that, and I have heard it several times lately and if I listen to the words, I know its true! Paulina will agree to that! :)

~ I lost a great guy friend of mine in late August and his memorial Jam night in Mattoon brought 3 wonderful guys into my life! Again, thanks to Paulina. RIP Michael Hall

~ I fear my addiction to facebook is getting worse! Does anyone know if there is a facebook addiction group around town?

~ I also fear my texting is getting out of control... I think last month I had 1,400 text... which is only 45 text a day... but still...

~ I have learned to talk on the phone more tho. In the past 20 days I have talked on the phone more than I have since I was in Alaska! hehehe, but he is totally worth it!

~ I still watch netflix, which I love! I watch them instantly on my computer!

~ Is it weird that I bought a wii game and I dont even own a wii? I just take it with me and play it at others peoples houses who have a wii.

~ I am getting pretty good about wearing earrings, a watch and make up everyday! not sure where that came from, but its kind of a change for me!

~ I love love emailing with my mom back and forth throughout the day! It is so nice to talk with her like I did when I was in Alaska during the day!

~ Since I have mentioned Alaska a few times, I still communicate with some friends up there, and they are doing great! Teresa and Charlie are still in the village, and loving it, they have had some great weather this season. Kerri is in Fairbanks with her boyfriend Mike and their 14 dogs! I miss them all, and glad they are doing good... its hard to believe I have been home for over 15 months...

~ Well, I will stop with all the random thoughts for today! But I hope you have enjoyed reading about some things in my life!

Have a great day
:)
